Belbroughton Club was founded when local scythe manufacturer Isaac Nash provided the club in 1886 for his workforce. It originally was, as one would expect, a working men’s club, but today it’s known as Belbroughton Club and has both male & female members.
The building itself is Grade II listed and parts date back to 1610. During its life it has been used as a private house, a bank on one day a week, and in around 1702 is believed to have been used as a public house known as "The Mermaid". The name is thought to have originated from a ship whose timbers were salvaged for this building. At one time the village had at least 11 pubs and beer houses. Belbroughton History Society
Refurbishment
In 2016 the bar area was refurbished to create a more modern look with a new bar being installed. Despite the disruption the club managed to stay open by using the upstairs function room as the main bar.
2023 saw the refurbishment of the upstairs function room to bring the modern look from downstairs upstairs. The function room was named Issac’s after club founder, Issac Nash. The bar area was given a unique look with exposed brick work which has proved popular with members as a great function room for private events and used for club ran events including live music and big sporting events. If you’re interested in using our function room please contact us or call in the club.
It was the gardens turn in 2018, the garden was once a crown bowling green in the sports hay day. It’s now been converted into a beer garden with a children’s play area and decking areas added in 2018. Additional garden furniture was also added to allow the garden to be enjoyed by more members.
Our kitchen got a new look in 2019. A fully stainless steal interior was installed to ensure the kitchen maintained high food hygiene standards for the preparation of our food menu.
